Common Core

Let me tell you, we have been working hard all week! I'm pooped! Yesterday I went to a PD at the board, and the focus was on the math common core. We will officially adopt it next school year, and I was ready to go because there is so much for me to learn. Let me tell you, I knew it was tougher, but I had no idea how tough. It is amazing how many skills are moving from 1st grade down to Kindergarten. All I could think was how it will almost feel like teaching 1st grade again, except my students may/may not know all of their numbers!! Whew, that's totally scary! I have some planning to do for next year!

Today, my kids worked on labeling and writing an Easter Card for their Word Work center. You can find out more info on this from Ms. Wills Kindergarten.

I also want to thank Kaleigh at Kaleigh's Klassroom for giving me a great award last week, The Giver Award. I meant to say something about it, but I totally forgot!! I look forward to giving it to someone else!!

Well, I'm off to do some homework, get treat bags together, and start stuffing these eggs with candy, for our egg hunt on Friday!! Whoo-hoo!!!!

Talk to you later!

  1. Girl, we are doing all the common core this year and it is VERY tough...especially knowing math facts fluently!!

  2. And that was hard enough for 1st graders!! Aaarrrgh!!! They need to make Kindergarten AND pre-school mandatory these days!

  3. We adopted it this year. It is really tough! It is very difficult for the little ones that do not have a strong number sense foundation. I try to remind myself that they are 5 years old and we have to keep it fun for them. I love your blog.

  4. Hey Angela! I tagged you over on my blog! Come check it out if you can:) Love your blog!
