4 Christmas Freebies for the Primary Classroom

December can be a crazy time of year. I’ve found that with a little bit of preparation, it can be fun and engaging for our students. Today I want to share with you some awesome Christmas freebies that I have for you.

First up we have a quick and easy center for ending sounds. It can be used in a pocket chart (which is what I do), or it can be used in a tabletop center.

1. Ending Sound Christmas Freebie

Listening for the ending sounds in words is an important phonemic awareness skill that students need to learn. This center provides extra practice, and can be used in small group and then moved to a center for independent practice. Recording sheets are included!

2. Ways to Make 10 Christmas Freebie

Next up is a math freebie, ways to make 10! There are two different activities that students can participate in.

With the first option, students will get a strip of elves. Each strip has a different combination of boy and girl elves. They would color each picture, cut and paste them to the sheet, and determine how many of each they have to make the number 10. There are two different versions of the recording sheet, one with and one without the addition sign.

This option is a game that can be placed in a center. The students will have 10 circles with boy elves on one side, and girl elves on the other. They will shake them up, and then dump them out, see how many they have of each, and record them on their recording sheet.

3. Emergent Reader Christmas Freebie

Next up is an emergent reader (I love them) that can be used anytime this month!

Not only does it give students a chance to practice their fluency and sight words, but they can also practice counting as well!

4. Math Center Christmas Freebie

Last but certainly not least, this is something new that I just finished! I know I’m not the only one in love with the tiny erasers from Target!! We use them for centers and small group!

So I wanted something that could have multiple uses. These activities could be used for math centers, an alternative to morning work, an exploration box,

or something for early finishers to do.

Annnnnddddd….I needed something to go in these tiny photo boxes that are just too cute!! I have my other exploration boxes in these cases as well.

First up is spin and cover. There is an option for numbers 1-5 and 6-10.

This holiday math center freebie provides students practice in those early numeracy skills that they desperately need. This freebie includes 3 centers that focus on the numbers 1-10.

Then we have roll and build. I found these tiny dice at the local teacher store. You can also use the spinners that are included for spin and build.

There is also an option for students who need to just practice building numbers.

Now, if you can’t find the candy cane or Santa erasers, have no fear, you can use any manipulative with these!
