What I Did Right This Week

I know, the title is a mouthful, right?

Hey guys and dolls, what's going on?

I have been in school for 3 weeks, and let me tell you, it's been a doozy!!

I've wanted to share with you guys what's been going on in our world,

but to tell you the truth, I've just been doggone tired!!

Instead, I thought I'd share with you a little bit of what's been on my mind.

As teachers, it seems as if we get the brunt of backlash against

education and everything related to it.

Sometimes its hard to remember why you started teaching in the first place.

Especially when it seems as if you always get certain sweet babies

because you can "handle it".

Sometimes it seems as if everything we are trying to do is in vain, and

we forget what the finish line will look like in May.

It's so easy to get stressed out, and begin to focus on what didn't go right,

or what you did wrong.

I think the media, parents, etc., do enough of that!!

So I decided to stop, and at this particular moment,

I'm going to focus on what I did right this week!!!

I have a child who was already expected to be difficult because of

his brother who was in kindergarten the year before.

(Don't you hate when that happens? They may be related, but they

are individuals!)

We have had a rough few weeks, as I have tried to find what works and doesn't work for him.

The 1st week, he ended up missing treasure box and fun friday, and it was horrible!!

I tried some new things the 2nd week, and he earned treasure box AND fun friday!!

The excitement on his face was unmeasurable, and he came up to me

and opened his arms wide to give me a hug.

The feeling it gave me was indescribable, and it gave me hope for the

rest of this year!

I suspect that he is on the spectrum, and I plan to

do more research and come up with new ways to

encourage him to be as successful as he can be!

This is why I became a teacher, to help them be successful, especially

the ones that certain "educators" are already against!

High expectations are important,

and helping them along the way is the key!!!

I'll leave you today with one of my favorite quotes!!

Click on the picture to grab it!

This is why I'm a teacher, and you know what?

I love it!

I'm thinking of doing this as a weekly link on Thursdays,

even if it's just me, lol,

and I think it will help so much to release the stress of

being a teacher, to focus on the positive!!

Please feel free to link up below!!

  1. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the title of your post! I was laying in bed last night pondering all the things I did WRONG this week and today was such an eye opener for me. I went in thinking about the growth we have made in 4 short weeks and I realized there is a lot that is going RIGHT for me. Thanks for making me reflect on that! I hope this becomes a weekly linky! I love your reflections and I agree whole heartedly about being the teacher that can "handle" it!
