Whatcha Been Up To?

Hey guys, how's it going?

I have had a very eventful week, and I know that you have as well!!

All of last week was just blah, blah, blah!!!

It was rainy and freezing all week, and then Thursday, BAM!!

It snowed!! So, we ended up getting out early, and then we had a late

start on Friday morning, and there were a lot of kiddos absent, let me tell ya.

So, last week we were doing a few things, I apologize for the pics, I just *knew*

that I took more. Where they went to, is anyone's guess!!

We were doing penguins for our unit, and I was so sad that we didn't get to finish them...

I promise we'll finish up tomorrow and I will show you all of what we've been doing then.

Over the past few weeks, I have been updating some of my earlier units....

you know, the ones that I created when I didn't really know what I was doing, lol!!!

I updated my Black History Unit,

my Very Hungry Caterpillar unit,

and it feels like forever, but I've been working on literacy centers for Valentine's Day!!!

So, I've got a lot to do this week, including completing our penguin unit,

MLK, and we're also celebrating the 100th day!!!

I have a feeling that I'm going to be really tired this week!!!

Leave a comment below about what you'll be teaching this week, and I'm going to pick

a few winners to receive my Cupid is in the Air pack!!

Good luck!!!!

Thanks guys, the contest is over!!

The winners are Cherie, Jennifer, Erin & Karyn!!! Congrats!!

Clutter-Free Classroom Challenge Week #2

Hey guys, how's it going?

As some of y'all may know, I'm trying to keep my classroom clutter-free!!!

So, I'm going to attempt to do this challenge, because I have this

one area that is just horrible, well, maybe 2 areas!!

Anywho.......I've got to do something about it, because it's driving me nuts!!!!!!

If you would like to see pics of my junky areas, see my previous post here.

Ok, so my homework this week was to create a plan for de-cluttering. know this is the tough part, because if I already had a plan,

then I wouldn't be in this predicament!! we we're tackling the bookcase........

1.  Stop keeping extra copies of stuff!!!! In other words, after I have given out

papers, homework, newsletters, copies for fluency folders, etc., throw the rest away!!!

2.  Decide what the purpose of the bookcase is!!! In my previous classroom, I used both bookcases for

student bookcases. I know that whenever we go back to our old school, which will probably be

1 and a half years, I'll go back to that.

In the meantime, I've got some of my book baskets on it, my data box, intervention stuff,

and a sort of catchall.

3.  Throw things away!!! (I know that I mentioned this earlier, but trust me, I need to say it again!)

4. Schedule at least one day per week that is devoted to simply cleaning

and purging unnecessary things.

5.  Start small!!! I'm known to tackle big projects, but I need to just get to one area at a time.

6. Don't become overwhelmed!!! It can be done!!!!

Oodles of Tech Tips Tuesday: National Library of Manipulatives

Hey guys, how's it going?

I wanted to share this great website with y'all,

so here we go!!

Have you ever heard of the National Library of Virtual Manipulatives?

Well, when I heard of it a few years ago,

and I was shocked at how much STUFF they had there!!!

You can check it for yourself here, let me know what you think!!!!!

Clutter-Free Classroom Project: Before Pics

Hey guys, how's it going?

My head is spinning, that's for sure!!

I have so many projects going, it's definitely going to be a wild ride!!

Anywho, I'm linking up with

Clutter-Free Classroom

to try and get some order to parts of my room!!!

As a whole, it's pretty ok, I don't let it get too junky,

but you know we all have these problem areas,

and I'm really trying hard to get rid of them!!!

So the first assignment was to take before pics of your room,

so that you can have something to compare it to when you've finished.

So, here goes nothing!!!!

(Oh, and fair warning, I'm a polka dot type of chick!!!!)

In the next three pics, you will see my counter. I have to keep everything there,

but it can get messy quick, fast, and in a hurry!!!

Now, I zoomed in, and took a closer pic of my bookshelf behind my intervention table.

Sigh, sigh, sigh, sigh, sigh, sigh, sigh.......

It's like my catchall shelf, and that thing can just get downright junky!!!! see what I'm saying?

Look at all of that junk!!!!!!!!

Somebody help me!!!!!

Oh, and there's one more area!!

It's my garage!! After the tornado, I couldn't fit everything into my new classroom,

so, my garage had to become my little storage area.

I know, I've become one of those people that I used to talk about, when you drive by and look

in their garage and you see all of this crap....yep, that's me now!!!

Ok, that's all for now, hopefully I can show you some improvement in these areas!!!

Oh, and don't forget, you have about a day left to enter the giveaway,

which you can enter here

7 Habits of Happy Kids via Silhouette Cameo

Hey guys, how's it going?

As I've told you before, a loooong time ago, my school is in the process

of becoming a Lighthouse school for The Leader in Me.

It's a kid-friendly version of the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.

My kids have fallen in love with it, and so have I.

Well, we are having a door/area decorating contest, and everyone is participating.

I was throwing around ideas in this little ol' head of mine, and I had an aha! moment.

I finally decided to break out the Cameo, since I hadn't really sat down to

figure out how it works.

It has just sat here for months, with it's pretty little dust cover on......looking lonely.

So, I finally sat down and figured it out, and I could smack myself, because it

was so flippin' easy!! Aaaggghhhh!!!

Anywho, here's a picture of my board (I was too lazy to take down my door).

I did everything from the letters to the cute little circles.

I must say, I really enjoyed myself!!

I'm so mad that I waited so long to use it, and now I can't wait to create all sorts of stuff!!!!

I created some posters for the habits over a year ago, and I've just updated them a bit,

so hop on over to my store and pick yours up for free!!

Back in the Saddle!!

Hey y'all!!

How's it going?

Well, it's that time again!!!!!

We had a teacher workday today, and I still feel like

I didn't get that much accomplished!!

I'm sure you know how that feels!!

I realized that I had forgotten to share some great news with you guys, that's how busy it's been.

Most of you know that we're not at our home school due to a tornado,

but our host school was kind enough to let us use their sign!!

They're so sweet!!!

I was so surprised and honored when I learned that they had really chosen me!!!!

Well, our kiddos come back tomorrow, and I know that we're going to have to do a lot

of modeling, practicing, and repetition!!!

So, I brought back this freebie, and I might not even have

to use it because I know that they all practiced over the break because I know some of my kiddos will

need to practice letter sounds!!

I also updated it to include a black and white copy, because I know I'm low on color ink!!

Click on the picture for your copy!!!
