One Word Resolution 2015

Hey guys and dolls, how's it going?

I've been really enjoying my break here,

but I've also been doing a little bit of planning!

Last week I wrote about specific goals that I want to try and reach,

you can read more about them here.

Today, I'm linking up with the girls over at Primary Powers

for a One Word Resolution linky!!

This is one that I definitely know that I can do!!

My word for 2015 is TRY!!

There have been many times where I have a great idea about things,

and then I don't even try to do it!! It can be for different reasons, from thinking

that my idea isn't good enough, to thinking that I'm not going to be able to do it right,

not wanting to try the new exercise class at the gym because it will be too hard,

not wanting to take on a project with my Silhouette because I won't do it right,

anything, you name it!

I wonder how many times I've let good things go simply because I'm afraid to try?

In 2015, I think that I'm going to try, even if I fail, because I never know what I

might accomplish!!

Come on over and link up with Primary Powers to share your

one word resolution!

2015 Resolutions

Hey guys and dolls, how's it going?

I'm gearing up for Christmas, it's really my favorite time of year!

I'm linking up with my friend Jessica over at Second Grade Nest

for my 2015 Resolutions!

I really want to become more knowledgable about the standards.

More specifically how it relates to 1st and 2nd grade.

I read them while I'm planning, but I think I want to dig in just a bit deeper.

Gym!!!!! This summer I was a work-out BEAST!!!

Then school began and I just let it slip away!

I started going back the week of Thanksgiving, and so far

I've been going 2 times per weeks, and I think I'm ready to

step it up to 3 days per week!!

Gotta get ready for the summer ya know!

I've been doing pretty well with following food blogs and

trying new recipes. Now I'm moving on to desserts and dough!!

I really want to get into making my own bread and things, I went and dug out

my dough hook attachment that I've never used!

New York!! Now, I don't necessarily have to go there in the winter,

but I'd love to visit and to go see a show on Broadway!!

I really want to learn more about coding and HTML.......I've even bought a book

and an online course!! We'll see how it turns out!

Rest!! I want to have some serious downtime, where I'm not worried about blogging,

social media, creating stuff for my classroom, polishing it up

to post it to TPT, etc. I just want to rest........

The problem is, there is so much that I want to accomplish, that I don't know where to start!

I guess you'll just have to stay tuned to find out!!

Come on over and link up!!

Taking a Closer Look for December

Hey guys and dolls!!!

I am teaming up with some great teacher bloggers again to bring you another

Take a Closer Look blog hop featuring one of our favorite December/Winter products.

I want to give you a closer look and a

FREEBIE from the unit to try out with your class.

I wanted to give you a look at my Winter 1st Grade Morning Work!

This morning work pack is a continuation of the skills covered in my

Fall First Grade Morning Work pack!

I've discovered that morning work is an excellent way to students to independently

practice the skills that have been taught in class.

It is also a great way to do a spiral review.

It's great for if you have too much time before the tardy bell rings, or if you

need something meaningful for students to do during intervention.

Below you will find a general overview of the product.

Clicking on the picture will take you to my store!

Here's a free preview for you to try!

Click on the picture for your copy!

Like it? Love it? Gotta have it?
Grab it in my store for 20% today only!

Off to the next next great freebie you go!!

My friend LaToya is waiting for you!

Fa-la-la-la-la Freebie Link-Up!

we have a loooooong way to go!!

My Primary Power girls and I are linking up for

to help you with some last minute ideas/freebies for your classroom!

Here's a freebie ending sound center...

...and there's also a math activity about different ways to make 10.

Last, but not least, I actually came across this oldie but goodie through Pinterest!!

I'd totallly forgotten that I'd made this, but with DIBELS around the corner,

it came in handy!!!

I hope you enjoy the freebies!!!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Hey guys and dolls, how's it going?

December has arrived with a roaring thunder, and I'm not sure that

I'm going to make it to Christmas!!

This week was jam-packed, and the next two weeks will be even more!!

It's time for individual report card testing in reading and math,

Polar Express Week and Christmas Around the World is coming up,

AND we have our first ever field trip and our Christmas party!!!

Whew! I get nervous just talking about it!

This meme pretty much sums up how I feel right now!

So, speaking of Buddy the Elf, our Elf debuted this week!!

I decided to keep his name from last year, so Jingles it is!

I'd put our class tree up after school on the last day before

Thanksgiving Break, so that was good to go.

Monday morning, I wrapped Jingles up, and I used this great letter

Once we opened our package, we completed this page about Jingles,

which is also included.

The kiddos had fun looking for Jingles this week!

This week we also kicked off Gingerbread Week, which is one of my faves.

Actually most of our winter units are my faves!

We read some of my favorite versions of the tale,

and I just realized that I forgot all about The Gingerbread Baby! Aww man!

We charted the characters, the song and the ending of each story.

I decided to make a gingerbread house out of it,

and I'm really excited about how it turned out!!

We also ate the Little Debbie gingerbread men,

and graphed which part we ate first!

Wrote down and analyzed the data...

.....we also described gingerbread, which was great, because

we needed to review adjectives.

We also did a little science experiment, and I would show

it to you, but the after picture is quite nasty looking!

My sweet friend Vickie from Primary Press has an awesome post about all things gingerbread

in her classroom, which is where these ideas came from!

Oh, and don't forget to grab everything while you're there!

For our fun Friday activity, and to get some Christmasy things going

outside of our room, we made these awesome Christmas trees!!

Julie Lee's pin has been all over Pinterest!

I've got to get a survival plan in place for the next two weeks!!

What's yours?
